Their wizarding neighbours and acquaintances assumed that Ariana is a non-magical squib, and that Kendra is hiding her out of shame. Shortly after his death, Dumbledore's portrait magically appears in the headmaster's office. His funeral is attended by students, Hogwarts staff, members of the Ministry of Magic, ghosts, centaurs, merpeople and others who wish to pay their respects. Shrouded in purple velvet, he is entombed in a white marble sarcophagus beside the lake at Hogwarts, and it is said that he is the only headmaster to be buried on the school grounds. Another very loyal Death Eater was Barty Crouch Jnr, who was imprisoned in Azkaban by his father, but escaped with the help of his mother. Crouch played a key-role in Voldemort's rebirth, after he captured and imprisoned Alastor Moody, and took his form, to teach at Hogwarts, while Dumbledore thought he was dead.
Sirius Black
Unlike the largely selfless Dumbledore, he’s more than willing to sacrifice his loved ones, from Hiromatsu to Mariko, to get what he wants. By Harry's sixth year, Albus Dumbledore took on the role of providing Harry with additional insights into the origins of Lord Voldemort, as Voldemort's power was growing enormously stronger. He entrusted Harry with the task of getting a final, crucial memory from Horace Slughorn regarding Voldemort's knowledge of Horcruxes. Dumbledore was also seen using the Deluminator, a device for removing and later returning light, and for use as a homing device. It is confirmed when the object is inherited by Ron that the Deluminator was of Dumbledore's own design. Dumbledore was the possessor and master of the Elder Wand, an extremely powerful object known also as the "Wand of Destiny" or the "Deathstick", and one of the Deathly Hallows, until he was Disarmed by Draco Malfoy at the top of the Astronomy Tower.
Power and Abilities
However, as Harry dwelt on his grief for his late godfather, the power of his love forced Voldemort to release him. Voldemort took Bellatrix with him as he fled, but not before he was seen by Ministry officials, including Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge, who was finally forced to admit that Dumbledore had been truthful in his assertions that the Dark Lord had returned. Dolores Umbridge was permanently removed from Hogwarts, and Dumbledore was reinstated as Head of Hogwarts. It was when Crouch, still in the guise of Moody, took Harry from out of Dumbledore's presence (something the real Moody never would have done in such a traumatic situation) that the headmaster realized that it was not Moody who had been at the school the whole year.
Hogwarts Houses
What was more; while being entrusted the stewardship of the school was, in and of itself, an honour and a privilege, it also meant that he was henceforth expected to shoulder the responsibility of making all the difficult decisions that came with leadership. By the mid-1960s, the amount of Dark magical activity across the country was growing steadily, and while few knew what was behind the mounting attacks and sightings, this was but the precursor to Lord Voldemort's first rise to power. Most prominent among the students he recruited was Tom Riddle in 1938, who resided at Wool's Orphanage in London.[45] For the purposes of fulfilling his duty as the school's messenger, Dumbledore wrote to the matron, Mrs Cole, to schedule a meeting with her to discuss arrangements for the boy's future. Because young Riddle was a ward of the state and she the custodian of the institution at which he lived rather than the boy's legal guardian, however, Albus was purposefully vague in his reasons for wanting to meet the boy. Having correctly guessed that the mysterious attacks to be the work of a powerful Obscurial and, forever mindful of the fact that if he could figure out where the prophesied entity was located, so could Grindelwald.

Dumbledore's Army was an organization formed and led by Harry Potter, in order to protect the students of Hogwarts from Lord Voldemort. He also had a friendship with Filius Flitwick, the Charms Professor and Head of Ravenclaw House, Pomona Sprout, the Herbology Professor and Head of Hufflepuff House, and Poppy Pomfrey, the nurse. Every Hogwarts staff member, with the exception of Dolores Umbridge, both respected and held a high opinion of Dumbledore. She confessed the whole story to him, and Albus Dumbledore offered both comfort and wisdom; telling Minerva some of his own family history, previously unknown to her. The fact that Dumbledore himself was there to meet Harry in a place between life and death attests to the bond of fellowship between them. Harry and Dumbledore forged a strong mentor-pupil bond, comparable to that between two close family members (most likely case of a grandfather-grandson), in spite of the century in age difference.
Ariana was the daughter of Kendra and Percival and the younger sister of Albus and Aberforth, who lived a short and tragic life. When Ariana was just six years old, she was attacked by a group of Muggle boys who had spotted her doing magic in the back garden of her family home. From that moment on she didn’t want to use magic again, but she also couldn’t rid herself of it.
No one knew whose curse it was that killed her, but Grindelwald fled immediately, as he already had a bad record back home, leaving the devastated Albus and Aberforth behind. Aberforth resented Albus and they had a strained relationship, with Aberforth punching Albus and breaking his nose at Ariana's funeral. Blinded by his love for Grindelwald, Dumbledore quickly became fascinated by Grindelwald's ideas of wizarding domination. His family's dark handlings of Muggles also started to corrupt Albus at long last. Albus returned to Godric's Hollow full of bitter resentment at his situation, feeling trapped and wasted, although he refused to let Aberforth quit school and insisted he complete his education first before taking care of Ariana. Fortune finally appeared to shine on Dumbledore in the form of Gellert Grindelwald, who was in Godric's Hollow to research the Deathly Hallows.

Dumbledore had also a good relationship with Sirius Black, James Potter's best friend and Harry Potter's godfather, as well as a member of the Order of the Phoenix, an organisation that Dumbledore led to oppose Voldemort and his followers. Like the rest of the wizarding world, Dumbledore initially believed that Sirius was the one who betrayed Lily and James to Lord Voldemort (and helped to condemn him in Azkaban with unproven statements and lack of evidence about his supposed betrayal), but, in 1994, he learned that it was actually Peter Pettigrew. As he had no way to prove Sirius' innocence, despite being Chief Warlock and having the power to give him a trial, Dumbledore compensated by helping Hermione and Harry save Sirius from the Dementor's Kiss, and to escape from his Ministry captors, by means of a Time-Turner and Buckbeak. A couple of months later, Dumbledore met with the Dursleys for the final time in his life.
Albus Dumbledore
He bluntly reminded Albus that he could not go searching for the Deathly Hallows with his fragile sister in tow. Albus and Gellert were not happy to have their dreams crushed and made their feelings clear. It is possible that Avery Sr, Mulciber Sr, Rosier and Lestrange were deceased before the Second Wizarding War. Other known Death eaters were Antonin Dolohov, Augustus Rookwood, Walden Macnair, Crabbe, Goyle, Avery Jr, Mulciber Jr., Jugson, Thorfinn Rowle, Travers, Yaxley, Evan Rosier, Gibbon, Nott, Alecto and Amycus Carrow, Selwyn, Wilkes, Rodolphus and Rabastan Lestrange. Rodolphus and Rabastan were two of the four Death Eaters who tortured the aurors Alice and Frank Longbottom to insanity. Quirinus Quirrell was the Muggle Studies Professor, before he started to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts.
After the Rebirth of Lord Voldemort, Dumbledore, in an effort to save Harry more pain, refused to disclose certain details to the young wizard. When Dumbledore explained to Harry that he had done so, because he cared a great deal for him, Harry was still angry but was more understanding. He was removed from these posts during his conflict with the Ministry of Magic under Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge, but was reinstated when the Ministry was forced to concede that he had correctly warned that Voldemort had returned.
However, it is evident that they were close, as Dumbledore was so fond of him that he strongly defended him when he was about to be expelled. Newt, in return, appears to respect Dumbledore greatly, to the point that he had no qualms going to Paris when Dumbledore ordered him too and obeyed Dumbledore without much questioning when Dumbledore gave him a currently unknown task. While Dumbledore died at Snape's hands, as he asked Snape to do it so Draco won't, having known the boy had been ordered to kill him by Voldemort, his legacy allowed Harry Potter to triumph over Voldemort, thus marking the whole rivalry between Dumbledore and Voldemort as Dumbledore's true and decisive victory. Ultimately, Dumbledore never hated or truly considered Voldemort a serious threat and instead pitied him, which he encouraged Harry to. He speaks cordially, kindly, and peacefully even with those who had committed crimes, as evidenced most notably with his interaction with Voldemort, who he treated as a guest when he came to apply as a teacher and later even in their duel Dumbledore displayed no animosity in his tone. He also held on to the belief that Grindelwald is capable of feeling remorse despite all Grindelwald had done.
During the private lessons between Harry and Dumbleore, the Pensieve is used to view a variety of memories about Tom Riddle's past. Had Severus Snape not intervened with a counter-curse, Dumbledore would have died much more quickly. The Ministry also began to interfere at Hogwarts, appointing Fudge's Senior Undersecretary, Dolores Umbridge, to the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. Umbridge and Fudge slowly passed laws that siphoned the powers of the Headmaster, while increasing those of Umbridge herself, who had been granted the new position of High Inquisitor of Hogwarts. In response to Umbridge and the Ministry's refusal to teach practical defensive magic, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley created a group of students that met secretly to learn Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Dumbledore wore half-moon spectacles and a colorful array of robes, ranging from purple to crimson-red. He once claimed to have a scar above his left knee in the precise shape of a map of the London Underground, but whether or not he actually does is unknown. His demeanor is often - if not always - serene and ethereal, and he usually spoke in a calm, pleasant voice even when Harry thought that he was actually furious. Arriving at the small island, they found a basin filled with glowing green potion. This last defense could not be removed by Vanishing or being scooped out; someone would have to drink it to get to the Horcrux that lay within. Dumbledore ordered Harry to help him drink all of the potion, no matter what effects it caused, even if Harry had to force it down Dumbledore's throat.
Crouch, in the guise of Moody, successfully fooled the Goblet of Fire and ensured that Harry Potter was chosen as the fourth champion of the Triwizard Tournament. Crouch secretly aided Potter throughout the tournament, so that in the final task it would be him to touch the Triwizard trophy first; which he had bewitched to become a Portkey. After his death, Rita Skeeter may have tried to tarnish his memory with the awful book The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore, but to many he was still seen as one of the greatest magical figures to have ever lived. It is unclear if the Sorting Hat tended to place students based on qualities they valued or rather qualities they exhibited. One example of the former is Peter Pettigrew, who was sorted into Gryffindor but ultimately turned out to be quite cowardly, self-serving and corruptible.
